Cynthia Murphy, devastated by the sudden loss of her son Joshua T nine years ago at the age of 40, found solace in the world of jewelry making. As the daughter of a jeweler and the mother of a jeweler, she decided to channel her energy into this creative pursuit.
Inheriting her late father's jewelry bench adorned with precious stones and an assortment of tools, Cynthia embarked on a journey to craft meaningful pieces. Her husband, Jim, joined her in the venture, dedicating himself to tumbling and polishing stones for her designs. In the initial stages, Cynthia explored beading, wire wrapping, and the creation of bracelets, earrings, and simple pendants.
During this creative exploration, Cynthia discovered her natural talent for wire weaving, propelling her into a new artistic direction. Jim took charge of beading designs, while Cynthia focused on creating intricate wire woven pieces, forming a harmonious partnership. Today, their art is showcased in various art shows and galleries, and Cynthia has earned several prestigious awards for her outstanding wire work.
This is the story of how Joshua T Designs came to be—a testament to Cynthia Murphy's resilience, artistic talent, and the transformative power of art in the face of loss.
Cynthia is originally from New York and currently resides in Edgewater, Florida, with her husband, Jim, and their fur baby, Diezel.
